TRANSMOTION® TECHNOLOGY HELPS FEDERAL CITIZEN INFORMATION CENTER OFFER MULTI-LINGUAL ACCESS TO GENERAL BUYING TIPS, WAYS TO RESOLVE MARKETPLACE PROBLEMS, AND OTHER RESOURCES
COCONUT CREEK, FL (October 18, 2005) — MotionPoint Corporation, a provider of multi-lingual consumer communication services for government and online business operations, announced today that the Federal Citizen Information Center, an office of the U.S. General Services Administration, has launched its Government Consumer Action web site www.consumeraction.gov in Spanish using MotionPoint's TransMotion technology for rapid and cost-effective translation.
Consumers simply click on the "En Español" link to access information in Spanish about Hurricane Katrina assistance, advice on steps to take when shopping for goods or services, along with warnings on what to watch out for when shopping for cars, credit and home improvements. Information is also available on how to solve consumer problems, as well as addresses, telephone numbers, and links to websites to file consumer complaints with consumer organizations, corporations, trade associations, BBBs and government agencies at the city, county, state and Federal level.
United States Census figures show the nation's 35.3 million Hispanics represented 12.5 percent of the U.S. population in 2000, and they are expected to account for approximately 25 percent of the total by 2050. Figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis show that Hispanic purchasing power has surged to nearly $700 billion and is projected to reach as much as $1 trillion by 2010. That is nearly three times the total U.S. rate of disposable income. The Hispanic population is out-performing the general population by nearly every economic growth measurement, so reaching out to them is becoming more and more important.
"Government organizations that don't currently offer Spanish versions of their web sites or offer very limited content of their sites in Spanish are quickly realizing that must change," said Will Fleming, chief executive officer of MotionPoint. "We offer them the ability to launch a fully translated site in one or more additional languages in as little as 60 days and for pennies on the dollar of what it could cost their internal IT departments."
MotionPoint was able to provide the Federal Citizen Information Center with a fundamentally different approach to website translation by combining best-of-class professional human translations with proprietary software tools that remove any upfront IT development and integration. No parallel site is needed and there are no ongoing maintenance headaches, because MotionPoint's proprietary tools dynamically keep the Spanish language site in sync with its English counterpart (including text, translatable images, alt tags, meta tags, etc.). Perhaps the greatest advantage of utilizing this unique approach is there is no ongoing maintenance required by the Center's IT department. 직원들은 평상 시처럼 영어 사이트에 대해서만 모니터링 및 업데이트하고, MotionPoint에서 해당 사이트의 스페인어 버전을 유지관리하게 됩니다.
"The demographic landscape of our country is changing, and traditionally government organizations haven't done as good a job as they need to in reaching everyone," added Fleming. "So we are very pleased to be working with the Federal Citizen Information Center to help them reach out to consumers and have their web site reflect the diversity of the population at large."
